About Us

Introduction

The International Chinese Association of Computer Human Interaction (ICACHI) was founded on May 10, 2012, in Austin, USA, during the ACM CHI 2012 conference. The board comprises 27 overseas Chinese HCI researchers active across the world, including two supervisors.

The mission of ICACHI is to advance the careers of its members, elevate the standing of those members in their countries and around the world, and contribute to humanity through research in Human-Computer Interaction. The association is an open and transparent academic organization. It is the first purely professional HCI organization founded by and for overseas Chinese, transcending geography and region. Vision

HCI is as pervasive as air and water, present in every corner of our lives and work. It is an interdisciplinary field studying the design, evaluation, and implementation of interactive computing systems for human use, and is fundamentally important across computer science, information science, and beyond. Its goal is to enable faster and better exchange of information between humans and computers. HCI is therefore an indispensable area of research for a healthy information society in the 21st century.

In a broader sense, HCI studies how humans interact with the entire information space. The field connecting computer-generated virtual worlds with reality will continue to deepen and deliver more world-changing applications. We are confident that through the efforts of the board and all members, the future of both the association and the field will be even brighter.
