ICHEC 2026 工作坊参与者招募启事

Call for Participants

Four workshops have been accepted into the ICHEC 2026 program. Each offers a dedicated half-day (around 3-hour) session designed to foster structured discussion, making, critique, or community building around contemporary and emerging areas of HCI. We now invite participants to join these workshops.

How to take part

  • Workshops are participatory spaces; we warmly welcome you to join the discussion, take part in hands-on activities, and contribute to shared synthesis, rather than simply listening in.
  • To take part, please register for BOTH the workshop and the main conference.
  • There is no additional workshop fee.
  • Room assignments and session times will be announced later.

Workshop 1

Designing XR from More-than-Human Perspectives

How might XR support more-than-human perspectives? This in-person workshop invites researchers, designers, practitioners, and students to explore the opportunities, challenges, and possible directions of more-than-human XR. Through collaborative activities and interdisciplinary discussion, participants will share perspectives, develop XR ideas, and identify questions that may inform an initial structure for reflection and potential design tools. We welcome participants from HCI, XR, more-than-human design, sustainability, ecology, and related areas, across career stages and levels of technical experience.

Unity of Heaven and Humanity & Human-Engaged Computing:

An Indigenous Approach Towards Design as Healing and Renewal

We invite HCI researchers, designers, practitioners, and students interested in Human-Engaged Computing, critical and decolonial design, cultural perspectives, care, and well-being to join this in-person workshop. Through embodied activities, cultural narratives, collective reflection, and speculative design, participants will explore how culturally situated and relational practices of care, healing, and renewal can inspire alternative ways of thinking about human-technology engagement. No prior experience with yoga, meditation, or other embodied practices is required, and multiple forms of participation will be supported. Participants will critically reflect on these practices and collaboratively develop design questions, provocations, and possibilities for more caring, inclusive, and relational forms of HCI. Selected workshop-theme-related papers and design reflections will have an opportunity to be published into an edited book with a reputable HCI publisher.

Organisers and Their Expertises

  • Huatong Sun, University of Washington Tacoma, USA | Digital & Social Media, Global Design, Critical Design
  • Sean Wolfgand Matsui Siqueira, Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brazil | Information Systems, Speculative Design

BATICLOUD: Human-AI Co-Creation Workshop for Batik Intangible Cultural Heritage, From Craft Knowledge to Digital

ICH embodies humanity’s living memory, yet many traditional crafts face the risk of disappearance. What possibilities emerge when batik meets artificial intelligence? Join our workshop, “Batik Programming Grammar and Artificial Intelligence: Human–AI Co-Creation for ICH”. We have developed BatikScript, a Chinese-keyword programming grammar derived from batik craft processes, and Batik AI Creation Studio, a web-based tool. Simply describe your idea in a sentence: AI translates it into concise BatikScript code and renders batik effects on the canvas in real time. You can let AI generate the code or edit it yourself to experience human–AI co-creation. The workshop welcomes everyone, including researchers, art learners, ICH enthusiasts, older adults and children. No programming experience is required. During the 90-minute session, you will hear current perspectives on ICH digitisation, discuss “What is ICH?”, create your own batik work and share it with others. The workshop also uses co-creation as a research method. With your consent, anonymised data from your creative process will help us explore new approaches to ICH transmission. Participation is in person only, with approximately 15 places available. If you would like to learn about ICH and experience the combination of AI and craft, we warmly invite you to register!

Sandbox World-Building: Co-Creating Healing Spaces through Immersive Narrative

We invite you to join the half-day workshop “Sandbox World-Building: Co-Creating Healing Spaces through Immersive Narrative” at ICHEC 2026. This hands-on participatory workshop explores how participants can co-create immersive narrative healing spaces for people facing academic pressure, employment anxiety, social loneliness, and identity anxiety. In groups, participants use a fixed element kit and stress scenario cards to assemble a healing journey. Groups then exchange designs and cross-review stress relevance, healing expectancy, immersion, controllability, and emotional safety. The workshop suits researchers and practitioners in HCI, design, psychology, health, accessibility, and creative tools. All materials are provided. We warmly welcome you to join this workshop.
